About

I’m an editor with more than 18 years’ experience acquiring, developing, and publishing adult non-fiction. Currently I serve as Editorial Director at Sounds True, where I acquire and edit trade books in psychology and personal growth, spirituality and religion, meditation and mindfulness, health and wellness, and yoga. I’m especially interested in books that consider not only individual wellbeing but also collective healing.

As Senior Acquisitions Editor at Shambhala Publications (2018 - 2022), I acquired and edited trade books in meditation and mindfulness, self-help and psychology, health and wellness, yoga, and Buddhism. Authors included Pema Chödrön, Tracee Stanley, David Richo, Hala Khouri, Sarah Powers, Dianne Bondy, Kat Heagberg Rebar, Cuong Lu, Cynthia Bourgeault, Susan Moon, Kate Johnson, Thubten Chodron, Anam Thubten, and Natalie Goldberg, among others.

Prior to working at Shambhala Publications I managed the lists in sociology and religious studies at Rowman & Littlefield (2006 - 2018), where I finished my tenure as Executive Editor. I acquired and developed academic, trade, and textbooks. I was fortunate to work with leaders in the disciplines, including presidents of the American Academy of Religion and the American Sociological Association, as well as new scholars on their first books. Authors included Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, James Martin SJ, Kwok Pui Lan, John O’Malley SJ, Allison Cotton, George Yancy, Joan Berzoff, Miguel de la Torre, Khaled Abou el Fadl, and many more.

Working with authors is one of the deep joys of my work. Thank you, authors, for the privilege of working on these beautiful books together!

I attended Swarthmore College and the Denver Publishing Institute. I have been active in PubWest (editorial instructor for Pub501), Washington Book Publishers, and the Washington Literacy Council. Prior to working in publishing I had a brief career as a teacher—I taught 3rd/4th grade in Seattle, WA, and English as a Foreign Language in Xi’an and Beijing, China.

I live in Boulder, Colorado, with my son. I adore hiking, exploring, and live music. I’m a devoted and inflexible student of yoga and a devoted and flexible student of life.

Territory acknowledgment: I live, work, and parent on the ancestral lands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute people. I also recognize the 48 contemporary tribal nations that are historically tied to the State of Colorado and the Native people who live here today.
